We are incredibly excited to announce KULBROEN:Design — a new partnership between Holmris B8 and Kulbroen, bringing together design, architecture, material exploration and creative talent to shape the identity of Aarhus' new landmark cultural destination.

Our shared ambition is to create a cohesive design language that extends beyond individual products to shape the experience of the place itself. Throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces, each element is conceived as part of a greater whole – inviting exploration and giving the place its own identity.

Furniture and objects serve a function, but they also influence how we move, meet, interact and experience our surroundings. The right design decision can shape how we perceive Kulbroen as a whole. This collaboration is not simply about furnishing Kulbroen. It is about helping shape how the place is experienced, used and remembered.

A partnership
built to evolve

KULBROEN:Design will unfold through a series of collections, each contributing to the character and identity of Kulbroen.

The first collection will launch alongside the opening of Kultårnet in spring 2027, taking existing Holmris B8 products as its starting point and reinterpreting them for the unique setting of Kulbroen. In parallel, the ambition is to begin developing a second collection involving emerging design talents in the creation of new prototypes and original designs. Kulbroen is intended as a platform for collaboration, opening opportunities for designers, manufacturers and other creative partners to contribute to a shared vision.

At the heart of the collaboration is Holmris B8's Recrafted approach — a material-driven way of working that explores the potential of upcycled and recycled elements, giving existing resources new purpose and expression. Kulbroen was built on transformation of old coal-infrastructure. That same mindset of reuse, adaptation and creating new value from what already exists sits naturally within the collaboration and what we want to achieve together.

The people
behind the project

From Kulbroen, the project brings together architect Pit Herold, trend forecaster Christine Kastberg and Kulbroen founder Martin Thim.

From Holmris B8, Henrik Holmris, Mikkel Frandsen and Jakob Sommer Holmberg are among the people involved in bringing the collaboration to life.
